Industrial designer Joon K. Hwang was born in Seoul, South Korea and studied at theDepartment of Furniture & Design at Korea University in Seoul, Korea. In 1997, he moved to Milan, Italy to continue his studies at the Istitutto Europeo di Design (IED). Upon graduation, in 2001, he received a senior position at the AROUNDESIGN Studio in Milan, founded by Giulio Iacchetti and Matteo Ragni. After a few years, he moved to the USA and continues to work in the industrial, POP display and graphic design fields. This unusual combination of training in Asia, Europe and America has contributed to his very unique perspective on design. Joon K. Hwang was a Finalist in the Designboom Competition in 2002 and 2009 and won a Silver Prize at the New York World Art Festival in 2008. His work has been exhibited internationally at the Macef International Home Show (Milan, Italy, 2009); Oggetto Liquido, Vicenza Arte(Vicenza, Italy, 2007); and Maison et Objet International Interior Design and Home Furnishing Trade Show (Paris, France, 2002) /2002.
